Self-Care is My Superpower!
Ramona Crabtree – Falkner, Holistic Wellness Facilitator
As a seeker of my purpose in the world, I can find myself charging ahead without any awareness of over-commitment. When you have a passion, it’s easy to get pulled into the vortex of the “to-do’s,” and end up in burnout.
While living my life of passion, I encounter burnout when I’m not taking care of myself, giving all my time away, and allowing my commitments to others to take priority over my own. It happens to me less than it used to, but it’s still an edge I find myself bumping up against from time to time.
A few years ago, I came up with the phrase: “Self-Care Is My Superpower,” and it was a game changer.
When I was young, I was told that to be successful, I had to get my “ducks in a row” and “pedal hard uphill.” This mentality was the opposite of love. It was rooted in my ego’s desire to live in chaos. I realized I had to change my relationship with self-care, and this shift in perspective would ultimately be the key to my self-love.
I started to look at self-care as a necessity, instead of a luxury which had been my mindset for the better part of my life. I began to choose myself and go for the experiences that offered me joy. For me, self-care isn’t just about what services I can receive; it’s about time to be in nature, with my friends and family, the adventures I take – and so much more.
I am here to enjoy my life and experience all the things that this human body allows me to. This shift to love means loving my body, loving my time here on the planet, loving the relationships I have been gifted with, and loving my life. Life is not meant to be constant pressure; in truth, it’s meant to be an expression of the divine living through me.
Whoah!
This shift in mindset set me on a path to greater love and is the reason that Self-Care is My Superpower – for without it, I’m just muddling through the chaos instead of living every moment as if another wasn’t coming.
What’s your relationship with self-care, and how can you transition your mindset to honor it as a necessity, instead of a luxury?
With Infinite Love and Gratitude,
Ramona
